We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Meenal Agarwal to Onix.

Dr. Meenal Agarwal is an optometrist reshaping how we think about the connection between our eyes, our brains, and our health.

Dr. Agarwal is a Doctor of Optometry (University of Waterloo, 2008), owner of three eye care clinics in Ontario, host of Uncover Your Eyes, a Top 3 Medicine podcast, and upcoming author of Stuck in a Flat World: How Screens Rewire Our Brains, Spatial Awareness, and Sense of Safety (Fall 2026).

Known for pioneering a more holistic approach to vision care, Dr. Agarwal focuses on root causes rather than symptoms, with an emphasis on prevention, neurovisual health, and brain performance. Her work integrates optometry, neuroscience, and lifestyle medicine to illuminate how visual input shapes cognition, emotional regulation, safety, and long-term neurological health.

She coined the term Spatial Awareness Processing Disorder (SAPD) to describe how screen-heavy modern environments can diminish the brain’s ability to judge distance, track motion, and navigate real-world space, contributing to anxiety, disorientation, and reduced resilience. Her mission is to raise awareness around how digital overload affects focus, safety, and longevity, and to help people rebuild clarity, balance, and presence.

Dr. Agarwal’s work has been featured in outlets including Men’s Health, Forbes, TIME, and Fox News. She speaks nationally on the overlooked role vision plays in mental health, spatial awareness, and cognitive performance.

Before building her own practices, she served as Clinical Director at TLC Laser Eye Centers. That clinical depth, combined with her expertise in ocular disease, pediatric myopia control, vision therapy, and specialty contact lenses, gives her a rare and comprehensive perspective. She is also a leading voice on mindfulness and well-being in healthcare, speaking candidly about the pressures clinicians face and the importance of sustainable, human-centered care.

We’re in a crisis of overstimulation, and most people don’t realize their eyes are at the center of it. Onix lets me reach people before they end up in my chair with symptoms they don’t understand.
